Insurance disputes

When the insurer says no, you don't have to take it as final.

Insurance policies are drafted by insurers, for insurers. When a claim is denied, delayed or underpaid, we read the policy with you and act on the gap between what was promised and what's being paid.

What we act on

  • Income protection and salary continuance claims.
  • Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) claims — see our dedicated TPD page.
  • Life insurance and trauma claims.
  • Home, contents and small business insurance — storm, fire, flood, theft.
  • Commercial insurance, including business interruption.
  • Disputes about non-disclosure, fraud allegations and policy avoidance.

Why a lawyer makes a difference

Insurance disputes are won and lost on the policy wording, the medical or factual evidence, and the procedural requirements of the dispute resolution scheme. Each insurer has internal review processes, and most disputes can be referred to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), and from there to court if needed.

We know the architecture. We know the language insurers use to refuse claims, and we know how to test it.
